Once you climb the stairs from the promenade it almost seems like two establishments, with the Ibiza style bar on the right great for pre-dinner drinks or cocktails and the very slick looking restaurant to the left.

Atalaya is open 08.00 to 03.00 Sunday to Thursday and until 04.00 Friday and Saturday so you can party into the wee hours! Restaurant staff speak Spanish, English and German.

  • “Lollipops” of cheese with a tomato jam
  • Garlic prawns
  • Gazpacho

Mains

  • Fresh salmon with scallops in a vodka & mango sauce
  • Pork fillet wrapped in bacon with a Gorgonzola sauce
  • Fillet steak with foie in a port sauce with pumpkin ‘tatin’

Deserts

  • White chocolate yoghurt cappuccino with red fruit & lime foam
  • Tart Tatin with toffee sauce and white chocolate ice cream
  • Chocolate fondue with seasonal fruits

Starts average at €5 each, mains at €15 and desserts at €6 with a good selection of wines available.

The waitresses are very knowledgeable of the food and are happy to ask the chef any questions you may have or for any alternations to the food you require. They also have a vegetarian option which is definitely unusual for Spain!

Sofia’s is open 19.30 to 22.00 Monday to Saturday, but closed Sundays and Mondays during December and February. Their menu is 22.50€ for three courses plus half a bottle of the house wine per person.

  • Red plum & ginger crumble with cream, ice cream or custard

  • Warm chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce & vanilla ice cream

Montgo Vegetarians is an informal group of vegetarians who live or regularly holiday in Javea and have decided to get together to compile a list of veggie friendly restaurants, create an online chat forum to discuss ideas and any problems that being a vegetarian and eating in Spain can bring!

The waiting staff are all very friendly, helpful, immaculately presented and knowledgeable of the food and wines. The ambience of the restaurant is warm and the decor is classy and more upmarket.

Meals are served lunchtimes and evenings from 7pm with a large selection of dishes including a wonderful choice of Tapas. This is not the cheapest restaurant along the Arenal but nor is it the most expensive but you are guaranteed a wonderful meal.
